Research Assistant in chemistry of graphene-based materials

Opportunities

The candidate will work on the chemical modifications of graphene and other 2D materials within the group of Asst. Prof. Slaven Garaj, and at the Centre for Advanced 2D Materials.

The main objective of the project is the development of a new generation of membranes for the application in water filtration and separation technologies.

The candidate main task will be to support efforts of the group in chemical modifications of graphene, nanofabrication and characterisation. The candidate will work within state-of-art synthesis, cleanroom nanofabrication and characterisation facilities at the Centre. The candidate will be immersed in a highly-international environment of the Centre, and will be interfacing with the international partners and research visitors.

Eligibility and Conditions

The candidate should have at least a Bachelor Degree in Chemistry/Chemical Engineering/Material Science or related field. Higher degrees are acceptable.

The candidate also should have:

  • experience in chemical synthesis
  • excellent nanofabrication training and skills
  • can-do attitude
  • be able to work independently and within a team
  • attention to detail
  • good communication skills and fluency in English.

The position if available a term contract of one year, with expected extension to one or several years, with salary depending on experience and proficiency.
